After a pulsating grand finale event that featured plenty of interesting displays by the contestants for this year’s Miss Nigeria competition, 21-year-old Feyijimi Sodipo was crowned Miss Nigeria at Eko Hotel and Suites.
She emerged as the new queen, defeating her closest rivals, Miss Benue and Miss Edo, to clinch the crown.
The event, which was hosted by project manager of the pageant, Wunika Mukan, was packed with important dignitaries, including the First Lady of Lagos state, Mrs Abimbola Fashola, Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Edem Duke, among a host of other notable personalities cutting across diverse sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The event featured both African and Foreign contestants. 2face Idibia performed his smash hit, ‘African Queen’ to the delight of the audience and a quiz session, which saw intelligent answers put up by the contestants.
The judges, Prof. Ebun Clark, Mrs Wunmi, Tony Akiotu, Catherine Ifejika, Derin Osoba and Dr Bello Osagie made their decision after the contestants had been narrowed down to five with Miss Benue placing second (who also won the award for best traditional wear), and Miss Edo, third position.
Other winners for the night include Miss Delta, who was decorated as Miss Congeniality, Miss Anambra as Miss photogenic and Miss African Hostess was given to Miss Akwa Ibom.
