Not all of Madonna's fans were happy to see her.
On Sunday night outside the London premiere of
"W.E.," the new film the 53-year-old star directed, fans booed the pop icon upon her arrival.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Madonna
stopped briefly on the red carpet to do interviews and greet fans, but those who weren't granted the opportunity to pay their respects to the singer started to boo.
In an interview with Sky News that took place
outside the theatre, Madonna said, "I do know
what it is like to be misunderstood on a global
scale," referring to the main character of her film
and making a not-so-subtle comment on her
situation at that very moment.
"W.E." tells the tale of Wallis Simpson, an
American divorcee for whom King Edward VIII
abdicated the throne in 1937.
"I think it's just fascinating to try and understand the nature of their relationship and why a man of that power would give up his throne for her," she told the television station.
