Sources say the 17-year-old star got the idea for the epic outing from the movie Mr. Deeds, where Adam Sandler woos Winona Ryder with a date at Madison Square Garden. So, the singer made a few phone calls and set up the romantic evening, which turned out to be completely free!
Since the star has sold out the Staples Center a whopping three times, and it was empty that night, we hear the folks at the venue decided to comp the rental. The Biebs could afford to make the dream date happen any day of the week, though.
Anyway, here's how it happened: Bieber took his gal to the Demi Lovato concert at the Nokia Theater, which happens to neighbor the Staples Center. When they'd finished watching their pal rock out, he led Gomez through an underground passageway into the empty arena. Then they watched the ship sink, Jack die, and the old lady drop the diamond from the best seats in the house. Magical.
If Gomez wasn't in love before, she sure is now. And we have a feeling the heartthrob knows he blew this one out of the park in the romance department. He tweeted recently: "romance isnt dead. treat your lady right fellas. #REAL"
